The image, which has been circulating in WeChat groups today, shows that the ET9's center console uses a horizontal screen similar to that of the Tesla models, just like the renderings that Nio unveiled at Nio Day 2023.

All current Nio-branded models have center screens placed vertically, which is not a mainstream option in the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) market.

The EV maker appears to be switching the center screen to horizontal on the next-generation NT 3.0 platform models, with this new screen setup also used on the sub-brand Onvo's first model, the L60.

In addition, the ET9 has another slim screen behind the center screen that runs across the entire dashboard, a design not often seen in the Chinese EV segment.

Nio unveiled the ET9 on December 23, 2023, in an attempt to enter the luxury executive sedan market dominated by foreign brands, including Mercedes-Maybach.

The sedan was available for pre-order on the date of its announcement, with a pre-sale price of RMB 800,000 ($110,040), making it the most expensive Nio model. Deliveries of the model will begin in the first quarter of 2025.

The ET9 has large dimensions, which is what the Chinese market usually demands from a premium model. It measures 5,324 mm in length, 2,016 mm in width and 1,620 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 3,250 mm.

For comparison, the Nio ET7 sedan measures 5,101 mm in length, 1,987 mm in width and 1,509 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,060 mm.

The ET9 is packed with a host of latest technologies and will be the first to carry Nio's in-house developed Shenji autonomous driving chip based on a 5nm process. Currently all of Nio's models based on the NT 2.0 platform come standard with four Nvidia Orin chips.

The ET9 will be built on a 925 V ultra-high voltage platform and will be powered by Nio's in-house developed 46105 large cylindrical battery cells, resulting in better energy performance and faster charging, Nio said when announcing the model.

The sedan will carry a battery pack with a capacity of 120 kWh and a single cell energy density of 292 Wh/kg.

It supports 5C fast charging and can get 255 kilometers of range on a five-minute charge at Nio's latest 640 kWh charging post.
