Xiaomi EV said it is working on increasing its production capacity to ensure it meets its 100,000-unit delivery target this year.

Xiaomi EV has completed delivery of the 10,000th unit of its first electric vehicle (EV) model, the SU7, marking a milestone for the car-making arm of Chinese smartphone giant Xiaomi (HKG: 1810, OTCMKTS: XIACY).
Xiaomi EV shared the information on Weibo today, saying, "On the 43rd day from April 3, we crossed another small milestone."
"We are also continuing our efforts to increase our production capacity to ensure that we meet our 100,000 unit delivery target for this year," Xiaomi EV said.
Xiaomi officially launched the SU7 on March 28, offering three trims -- standard, Pro, and Max -- with starting prices of RMB 215,900 ($29,850), RMB 245,900, and RMB 299,900, respectively.
Xiaomi was offering a Founders Edition for the SU7, limited to 5,000 units, with deliveries starting on April 3. Deliveries of the SU7's customized vehicles began on April 18.
Xiaomi EV saw the 10,000th mass-produced SU7 roll off the production line on April 29, 32 days after the model was launched.
In April, 7,058 SU7s were delivered and the model had locked-in orders of 88,063 units as of April 30, Xiaomi EV said on May 1.
On the first day of the Beijing auto show on April 25, Xiaomi founder, chairman, and CEO Lei Jun said the company was aiming to see monthly deliveries of the SU7 exceed 10,000 units in June.
Capacity is currently the main bottleneck limiting Xiaomi's SU7 deliveries.
Customers who order the Xiaomi SU7 currently have to wait at least 30 weeks for deliveries, while the delivery lead time for the highest-priced Max variant is as long as 37 weeks, according to data monitored by CnEVPost.
Xiaomi EV is asking upstream suppliers to boost the availability of parts, increasing orders by about 80 percent, local media Wallstreetcn said yesterday, citing unnamed supply chain sources.
For one category of parts, Xiaomi EV's orders have increased from about 10,000 units per month previously to 18,000 units recently, according to the report.
