Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) today unveiled the interior of the new G9, following yesterday's surprise reveal of the flagship SUV's exterior.
The 2024 Xpeng G9's interior styling remains the same as the current model, including two large center screens up front, as well as an instrument screen.
The model's interior will have gray, black, and brown color options, according to images shared by Xpeng on Weibo.
The first show cars of the new G9 are already available at Xpeng stores in 49 cities including Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Xi'an, Hefei and Nanjing.
Within September, G9 show cars will be available at all Xpeng stores, the company said.
Xpeng did not provide any further information about the G9. Previous rumors have suggested that the new G9 will do away with the not-so-popular 5D music cockpit, which is expected to lower costs.
Additionally, while the current model comes with two panels in the wireless phone charging area, only one can charge a phone. The setup, which has been complained about, is also expected to be improved in the new model.
Xpeng launched the G9 on September 21, 2022, with a starting price of RMB 309,900 ($42,320) for the on-sale model of the SUV, which is based on the 800 V platform.
The pricing was seen as competitive, but the G9's confusing configuration at launch sparkedmany dissatisfaction that overshadowed its appeal.
Two days after the G9's launch, Xpeng overhauled the G9's options to make it less difficult for customers to choose.
The G9 was once highly anticipated and deliveries continued to grow in the early days of its launch, with a record 4,020 units delivered in December 2022, contributing 35.6 percent of the 11,292 delivered by Xpeng in the month, data monitored by CnEVPost showed.
But deliveries of the SUV have plummeted so far this year, with monthly volumes in the 1,000-unit range from February through July.
